Christmas Tree Shenanigains
Don’t let that cute, little red teddy bear face fool you… That innocent Cooper terrorizes our Christmas tree! The common phrase around the house right now is “Cooper! Leave the tree alone!”
We’ve been lucky that we never had to worry about leaving Leko alone with the Christmas tree. He was always more interested in playing with the cardboard box it came in, or stealing some key pieces as I was putting it up. We’ve never had any serious tree incidents with him.
And then there is Cooper… Who is the polar opposite of Leko in every way possible!
He was quite unsure of what to make of it at first, and just stood back and observed while I put it together and got all the decorations up. I thought “Oh this is good! He doesn’t care!”
Oh he cares alright. Too much!
His ultimate goal right now is to topple that big, shining spectacle down. He goes underneath it and pushes on the base, making it sway. He grabs toys and whips them at the tree. He pulls at the garland… breaking pieces off and leading me on a messy chase around the house. He has even tried yanking the skirt off. And the best one yet… coming home to a half lit tree because someone (COOPER!!!) decided to chomp down on the wire and forced me to strip the tree to replace the dead strand at 9pm at night!
Did you know Cooper is part squirrel? Neither did I, until I discovered the dog food stash under the skirt.
But all funnies aside, we are excited for Cooper to share his first Christmas with us! He’s already experienced the humiliation of sporting some ridiculous getup for our Christmas card photo. You’ll find some of the favorites from the shoot, as well as the tree tormentor in action himself.
We hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday!
