Leko and “Larry”
Dragons, reindeer, elves, penguins, lobsters and bones…. Leko was of course spoiled this Christmas with a bunch of new toys and treats. Some of these toys even lasted more than a few hours, and the others… well they quickly were met by the wrath of poodle destruction. There is one special toy though that looks as though it has been granted immunity from ever being destroyed and destuffed, all because of the fear it bestows on this little poodle. I introduce you to Larry from The Three Stooges.
My husband, niece and nephew are all huge fans of The Three Stooges, and often watch episodes before they go to school in the mornings. When my mother-in-law spotted the trio of stuffed dog toys at our local grocery store, she just had to buy them! Everyone got a kick out of them when we opened them Christmas day. Leko’s cousin, Puggles, got Moe, Leko got Larry, and Caleb got his favorite, Curly. The toys are hilarious, and when squeezed they play back funny quotes and sounds from the tv show.
Poor Larry had his nose chewed off before the end of Christmas day. We were not surprised when Leko brought Larry to bed with us that night, as he often likes sleeping with his new toys or piecing them apart just before he falls asleep.
The next day, Leko was playing with Larry. He threw his “poodle punches,” where he uses his front paws and acts like he is digging a hole in the toy. Leko bit Larry in the belly, and triggered the speaker to make Larry talk. Leko sprang into the air like startled cat, completely freaked out, and bolted to my lap. He tried climbing up to my shoulder in an effort to get as far away from Larry as possible.
Now, Leko cannot even look at Larry without fleeing. As soon as you show him the toy, he bolts in the other direction and won’t come near you until you put Larry away.
I guess this was Larry’s revenge for Leko chewing his nose off.
