Leko and I spent last Saturday supporting the local pugs at Pugtoberfest 2012!
Pugtoberfest is sponsored by a non-profit organization, Southwest PA Pugs with Special Needs (http://www.swpapug.org), to help raise funds needed to help rescue older, disabled and special needs pugs that require ongoing special care and/or medical treatment from shelters where these particular pugs face euthanasia. They are provided with appropriate medical treatment and are placed into nurturing environments while awaiting their forever homes.
The day was absolutely gorgeous, with all the leaves in their peak colors and not a cloud in the sky. We’ve never seen so many pugs! All colors and sizes, and many of them showing off their Halloween costumes for the contest later that day. Our particular favorite was a black pug that dressed as a pink poodle! The event was so much fun, with food, prizes, vendors selling pug-themed items and a small agility course set up for the pooches to show off their talents. Numerous contests here hosted throughout the event, including best pug trick, curliest pug tail, pug/owner look-a-like and longest kissing pug. Leko and his cousin, Puggles, even participated in the ‘cutest pug wannabe’ contest!
We had so much fun and can’t wait for next year’s event!
