Easy Homemade Sweet Potato Chewies
These Homemade Sweet Potato Dog Chewies are super easy to make and full of Vitamin E, Potassium, Iron, Fiber, Antioxidants, making them very healthy for your pup. And did I mention they make your house smell so good that you’ll want to eat a few yourself!
These are also great treat for dogs with diabetes and arthritis due to the ingredients can help regulate insulin and contain anti-inflammatory properties. The toughness of the chewie promotes chewing which is beneficial in helping to remove plaque from your pup’s teeth.
1 large sweet potato
2 Tbs olive oil
Cover a cookie sheet with foil. Clean the sweet potato and slice into 1/4″ thick slices. (You can vary the size of the chew for the size of your dog, just keep them 1/4″ thick.) In a large bowl, add the olive oil and coat each slice before arranging them on the baking sheet. Sprinkle the slices with cinnamon to taste. Bake for 2.5 – 3 hours or until they look dried out.
Allow to cool, then store in an airtight container for up to three weeks in the refrigerator or up to four months in the freezer. Enjoy!
