The Filtered Water Challenge
Leko has had an ongoing battle of oozy, goopy eyes that needed wiped on a daily basis. We’re happy to say… The battle has finally ended!
Leko’s watery eyes are not a result of a medical condition or anything. It’s just part of the breed and on lighter colors, often shows as tear stains.
I was talking to a coworker of mine and drinking water was brought up as a possible cause to Leko’s goopy eyes. Their vet told them unfiltered water can carry allergens, chlorine and many other things that could contribute to the oozy eyes. He gave his dog water filtered through a Brita jug and noticed a significant improvement within weeks, and told me to give it a try.
And so we did! And what a difference!!
I noticed a huge difference in as little as two weeks. I’ve been giving both of my poodles Brita water for months now and Cooper has hardly any eye discharge, and Leko went from having them cleared daily to once a week if that.
I tried giving Leko regular tap water and his eyes went right back to being goopy!
